IP Core

An IP core, or Intellectual Property core, is like a pre-made piece of a puzzle that can be used over and over again to build complex semiconductor chips. Think of it as a Lego block that you can use to build different structures. This “Lego block” or IP core is usually owned by a specific person or company.

These IP cores can be rented out to others or used exclusively by the owner. They come in handy when building different types of electronic circuits, such as field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), or other digital, analog, or mixed circuits.
